The words I created sprung from my initial reactions to the dance phrases. I kept in mind the project's proposed use of the Cassandra theme and responded partly to how the phrases intersected it hence:
Between the Past and the Future we are lost
There is only an elusive vision to guide us
Some of the other word phrases have a less obvious connection, but I think with a closer questioning of her nature and actions they can be justified:
I gather all creation to me, inspired by The Earth and The Heavens. Preparing my ground with action and meditation
The other two phrases were more directly generated by the dancers during a rehearsal at which I was not present:
We are on a journey of brief encounters, but the ground is still slippery beneath
We do fall, saved by each other, and yet we contine alone
It is my hope to incorporate spoken text in this performance. Lisa's idea of having an Actor present in both location - either speaking in parallel or doing call and response - sounds fascinating. I am eager to hear any ideas of how text might be incorporated into this performance.

Hi Michael! It was fun doing the improv the other night! I think your ideas about text are really great. I was thinking about improv and how such an important part of experimental improv is the communication via eye contact. Wasn't it sort of surreal to make eye contact with someone 3000 miles away? I'm new to all the technology stuff, so I've never used Skype or anything like that. I think we were successful and hopefully we'll have a chance to play again. Best, Erin
Yes, the experience WAS extemely surreal! I certainly hope we'll have a chance to play again. Are you setting up a Skype account? I'm looking into it, but have not used it before myself, either. My greatest regret was that our set-up only allowed me to see you out of the corner of my eye! In the future I will be sure the camera and screen are next to each other. However, I was able to see you, and hear you in real time. This was an extremely satisfying experience!
Michael
Hi again...I wonder if you will get this? We have to do a project and are hoping to include someone from CA in some way...if you get this post, can you email me at emh307@nyu.edu? It might be easiest for our group to call you, but I don't want to put my cell numero here. Hopefully you get this and are interested! Erin
